WILDER’S ROOM: A DAY IN THE GARDEN

I based her room design off of this simple idea - A DAY IN THE GARDEN… I wouldn’t so much call it a “theme.” When we first looked at this house and I envisioned our little family here, one of my first thoughts was having a garden.

Growing up my Grandma Celeste had the most beautiful garden. As a child, I remember running through the passages of lush greenery and feeling the magic of life all around me. I want that for my children…I want them to feel that magic. I don’t know how to garden, but I’m a quick study! Also, The Secret Garden was one of my favorites as a kid. So that feeling and that idea, led me to creating a mood board for Wilder’s room.

The first thing I purchased was her bed. I had this bed saved years ago when a similar style was sold at Anthropologie. I found it for a much cheaper price and I immediately purchased it. The curtains were the second purchase - she has an arch window in her room and I knew I didn’t want blinds or anything to takeaway from the design, so I opted for lush, velvet curtains that matched her dresser her Nana restored for her and they’re also blackout (which is a must for kids, IMO). These items have been in our storage pod since November. I’m finally able to start dreaming up her room again and I’m so excited.

I’ve always been a big fan of Rifle Paper Co. and had my eye on a rug that I really wanted. It went on serious discount and got discontinued…bummer. Now I’m on the hunt for a super awesome vintage rug and have the one above in the moodboard as a similar option to the Rifle Paper Co. one. I had my heart set on.

This cloud wallpaper has been a favorite of mine for soooo long. I would love to incorporate it in her room somehow… Just not sure if it’ll be the ceiling or wall.

Love this banner from the moodboard, but I also have a plan to DIY one that will be really special and have a ton of meaning behind it. Can’t wait to get started.
