CONCRETE TEXTURE
Initially I was going back and forth between tile or this concrete texture I saw Leanne Ford Interiors use several times in bathrooms. When I did a cost comparison, I was pumped to DIY this texture in the girls’ bathroom.
We saved over $1,000 by opting for a waterproof concrete texture instead of tile. This texture cost approximately $300 for the entire room😮 and it looks phenomenal. The tile options I was looking to use would’ve cost approximately $1,000-$2,000 for this space plus the cost of mortar and
Tile supplies.
We kicked off this process by installing concrete board around the tub then taped + used quick dry cement on the seams. We followed that by adding a waterproofing membrane. After the membrane cured we went ahead with the wall texture. See below for details on the texture and process.
Products used:
• Surecrete MicroTek Micro Topping
• Surecrete WhiteWater Color Pack
• Bucket
• Paddle mixer attachment + drill
• Drywall Knife
• Concrete Sealer + paint brush
Process:
( I mixed it in smaller portions so it wouldn’t dry out. I was 9 months prego and moving slow 😆)
• add a 1/3 bag of microtek to bucket + 1/3 bag of color pack
• add water slowly while mixing with drill attachment - until it makes a batter like consistency
• use drywall knife to spread on wall in upward motions and fanning out. I played around with this. Think of the Venetian plaster look.
• seal with concrete sealer + paint brush
